Mrs. Gonzala Martinez, a beloved matriarch and pillar of her family, passed away after a long life filled with love, strength, and devotion.
Gonzala was born on August 14, 1928, in Valle Hermoso, Mexico, to Bernardo Gonzalez and Gregoria Trivano. From an early age, she was known as a strong-headed woman who never allowed anything to stop her or stand in her way. That determination became the foundation of her life and the legacy she passed down.
She shared a lifelong love and marriage for nearly 60 years with her husband, Juan Martinez. They were married in their early twenties in the mid-1940s in Mexico, surrounded by family and friends who celebrated their deep love and commitment. Together, they later moved to Texas, where they built their life, raised their children, and created a home filled with love. Their marriage spanned over 50 years, marked by devotion, partnership, and enduring love. On February 17, 2008, her beloved husband passed away, leaving behind a marriage that stood as a beautiful example of lifelong commitment.
Gonzala raised generations of family, leaving behind a powerful lineage with over 40 great-grandchildren. She instilled strength, resilience, and perseverance in all who knew her, shaping the lives of those who followed her.
She was a Catholic woman who may not have practiced intensely but held a sincere belief in the Lord. Her faith lived quietly within her heart and guided her throughout her life.
A gifted cook, Gonzala fed both the bodies and souls of her family. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where meals were shared alongside stories and love. She was always a listening ear, always ready with hugs and kisses, and she gave her love freely and wholeheartedly.
In her younger years, she loved going out dancing with her husband, often following their son wherever he played music. She carried that joy with her always. Gonzala was a true girly girl-always making sure her hair was done and her makeup looked just right.
She especially loved watching Looney Tunes, and when her family heard her laughter coming from another room, they knew she was enjoying her favorite show.
Gonzala was deeply adored by her family. They lovingly shared that there was always someone with her at the nursing home, a testament to how cherished she was every day of her life.
She is survived by her son Arthur Martinez and wife Rachel Martinez from Italy Tx, son Rudy Martinez from Grand Prairie also 11 Grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Juan M Martinez; son John Martinez and his wife Pat; daughter Terri Escobar; brothers Juan Gonzales, Bernardo Gonzalez and Jose Gonzalez; sister Marla Berlanga; daughter in law Teresa Martinez; and great granddaughter Dominqiue Yvette Martinez.
Pall Bearers are Nicholas Martinez Jr., Levi Olvera, Ayden Martinez, Ezequiel Gomez, Azriel Martinez, Jason Kraicek, Adrian Martinez, and Elijah Nunez. Honorary Pall Bearers are Nicholas Martinez Sr., Julian Martinez, Gabrial Martinez, David Flores, Robert Martinez, Joel Martinez, Efrain Martinez, Kevin Reese, and Ronnie Edward.
Gonzala Martinez lived a long life knowing how deeply she was loved and will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her ways, her wisdom, and the knowledge she shared-gifts that will continue to live on through the generations she so lovingly raised.
