Laura Price Vaughn

Laura Price Vaughn was born May 21, 1931 in Gilmer, Texas and passed away in Arlington, Texas on April 6, 2024. Laura is survived by her daughter Janelle Vaughn, step-son Robert Vaughn, granddaughters, Jessica Remmer and Kamil Karamzadeh, grandson Chris Gomez, 6 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Laura was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Vaughn, parents Thomas Arthur Price and Mamie Stegall Price, brothers John, Tom, Joe and Jesse, and sisters Marie and Marguerite.
Shortly after graduation from high school in Gilmer, Laura relocated to Dallas to find employment. She also found her future husband, Dewey Vaughn. They were married in 1955 and Laura become a mom to Dewey's young son Robert. Daughter Janelle was born about a year later. When the children were young, Laura was a stay-at-home mom. She was active in PTA and church activities and served as a Girl Scout leader. When the children were older, Laura returned to work at a property management company. She began taking business classes at Dallas Baptist University and was hired to work in their accounting department. After years in accounting, she decided to make a career change and became an archivist in the DBU library where she worked until her retirement in 2003.
Laura was a member of American Business Women's Association where she held many different leadership positions. She was voted Woman of the Year in 1987, 2000 and 2015.
Laura was a long-time member of Oak Cliff Christian Church where she served as an elder, Sunday School teacher and treasurer.
In retirement she was very active in book clubs, Bible study groups, and Bingo at her retirement home. Her greatest joy was in spending time with her family, particularly with the young children who affectionately called her "Nana".
